Spooky Kentucky Mansion
With Halloween just around the corner, I can’t help but do some spooky design-related posts! Country Living Magazine has a short article about an old abandoned Kentucky Mansion that sold for $1. I guess ghosts are included!
Known as the Ouerbacker-Clement House, this Romanesque-style mansion was built in the late 19th Century in Louisville, Kentucky, for a prominent coffee merchant named Samuel Ouerbacker.
It has been transformed over the years since then, but was taken over by the city in 2005 for unpaid taxes. With nobody to attend to it, the building fell further into disrepair with partial structural collapse, water damage, and vandalism. The house was sold in 2008 for $1, but the sell fell through. It was sold again this year, also for $1, with plans to turn the former mansion into apartments.
Would you want to live there? It looks like it should be on the set of American Horror Story!
You can read more about the house here.
