Creating A Family Motto
I wrote a blog post a few weeks ago about making your home your own. I’m trying to follow my own advice, and personalize our home so it reflects our personality. I’ve done a few things that I’ve posted about that you can read here and here.
I’m in the process of trying to find an artist to create our family crest for us to hang in the entryway of our home (if you know of anyone, please let me know). In the meantime, I wanted to paint our family motto in the entryway so anyone who walks in can see it.
Painting text on a wall was trickier than I thought. I originally created the text using Adobe Illustrator and then printed it out at the scale I wanted. The letters are about 2″ high and the font is Trajan Pro. In retrospect, it probably would have been a better idea to create acrylic stencils instead of freehanding the motto. Probably the hardest part was trying to paint the letters on an arched opening and have all the letters similarly spaced. I enlisted the help of Emily to trace and paint the text using black paint. She did a great job!!
I would love to know what you think!
