Colonial Halloween Invitations

My mom started a Halloween tradition when we were young to do a “Mystery Dinner” Party every October.   She would print a menu that listed the food to be served, only the names were all changed to reflect Halloween-themed food such as “Mummy fingers” and “Witch’s Toenails.”  It was always a fun surprise to learn what you were going to eat because we could never tell from the coded names.

I tried to do the same thing when my kids were little.  We’ve decided to do it again this year, but this time I wanted to do something different.  Since my kids are no longer little, I thought we could try something a little more mature and less typical for a Halloween party.

The theme for the dinner will be “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.”   However, it will be a Colonial-Style Halloween dinner instead of the typical Halloween party you normally see.  I designed the invitation shown above for the event.

I’m really excited to share more details with you in the next few weeks!
