Holding Onto Perfect Moments
“We live in deeds, not years;
In thoughts, not breaths;
In feelings, not in figures on a dial.
We should count time by heart throbs.
He most lives who thinks most, feels the
noblest, acts the best.”–Philip Bailey
There is a Latin phrase called “Peur Aeternis” which translates loosely to be “the moment eternal.” The phrase is meant to capture those perfect moments we all have in life that we want to hold onto forever. Moments where we find ourselves completely happy for no apparent reason. They don’t have to momentous occasions or grand events–often they are the small moments in life, but we all have them.
I had one of those moments recently, and it was just because most of my family was together. We were all talking and laughing together and just enjoying being together. I remember thinking in that moment how happy I was. I’ve got everything in my life that matters…
P.S. The above family photo is missing some people, but it’s the most current one I have… 🙂
