Not too long ago I made some pajama bags for my girls. Pajama bags can also be called lingerie bags and are used to keep pajamas in when not in use. They’re usually laid out on the pillow of the bed during the day. What I love about them is they can be as pretty as a pillow but also serve a functional purpose in storing pajamas. I was inspired by a story I saw in a magazine a few years and decided to make some of my own.
If you’d like to make your own pajama bags, they are very easy to make. All you need is about 1/2 yard of fabric. You can use a reversible fabric if you want, but you don’t have to. I chose a pretty pink floral fabric that has a satin texture. If you’re familiar with how envelopes are constructed, this pajama bag is the same. All you need to do is sew a 5/8″ hem around all four sides of the fabric. Next divide the fabric into thirds on the vertical side. Sew the bottom third just on the sides leaving the horizontal opening because that’s where you’ll store the pajamas. The top third can be left to fold down to create the envelope.
Finally, if you have any questions about how to make your own pajama bags, feel free to email me! I’d love to help anyway I can. I’d love to see yours!
