The Turnaround House Anniversary

The Turnaround House Anniversary

It’s hard to believe that we moved into The Turnaround House exactly two years ago today.  Time goes by fast and so much happens, but at the same time, it feels like yesterday.  This little 100 year old farmhouse symbolized so much for our new family.  It was our first new home together and the chance to start over again in life.  After four years of “temporary” living, we would finally have a permanent place of our own again.  This home is where we put all our hopes and dreams for the future, and it’s served our family well.  Because this is such a monumental occasion for us, we wanted to have The Turnaround House Anniversary celebration.

Family

Last year to mark the anniversary of our home, we created a time capsule and buried it on the property.  If you missed that blog post, you can read it here.  This year we decided to have a balloon launch.  Each of us wrote down our favorite memory or experience living at The Turnaround House.  We then put those written memories inside helium balloons and launched them into the air from our home.  Everyone loved the idea and had a fun time coming up with their favorite thing to share.  I think it’s a great idea to mark special occasions like this because it helps everyone feel like a part of something bigger than they are.  For teenage kids especially, that’s important.
