Cut Flowers From The Garden
About once a week, I like to go out into my garden and cut fresh flowers to display around my home. Luckily The Turnaround House has plenty of options as far as flowers go. At the end of Spring and beginning of Summer, I started off using peonies, but sadly that season is over. Right now the roses are in full-bloom and my wildflowers are starting to come in so I will be using them. There’s something special about using cut flowers from the garden of your own home.
Because we moved around so much growing up, my parents never really had time to invest in a vegetable garden, let alone a flower garden. I remember being influenced by some of my favorite childhood books where cut flowers from the garden were used, however. I knew when I grew up and had my own house that I wanted to do that. This is the first I’ve ever lived in that I’ve been able to have a cut flower garden. When we first moved into our home, I would come home from work and Andy would have cut some roses and have them in a vase for me. It was so sweet and really meant a lot! He knows what makes me happy!
Do you cut flowers from your garden? I’d love to know what your favorite kind is!
