Blue and white has always been one of my favorite color combinations. I’ve been collecting all kinds of blue and white pottery over the years, with delftware being my favorite. Blue and white is used a lot in Summer and especially beach houses because of it’s cool and refreshing look. I created the Summertime Blues mood board for the August issue of Wilma Magazine since its will focus on the end of Summer.
People often ask me where I get my inspiration from. It’s interesting because inspiration can strike anytime–all you have to do is keep your eyes open. I was looking for ideas for something on Pinterst when I stumbled across the pattern in the top left corner of the moodboard. I immediately fell in love with it, and that pattern became the inspiration for an entire magazine. It’s really that easy to find inspiration. If you find something that immediately catches your eye or speaks to you, that’s inspiration. I talk all about inspiration and the design process in my book, So You Want To Be An Interior Designer: Interior Design School Handbook. If you’d like to learn more about it, check it out because it’s a great resource for designers, potential designers, or creatives. I’ve gathered up some of my favorite blue and white pieces for this post that you can find at the bottom. Please ask if you have any questions!
