Christmas Plaid Tablescape
Decorating for the holidays is so much fun–especially tablescapes because you can use your creativity over and over again to come up with something new every time! My favorite items to collect are table linens, dishes, stemware and flatware, and I try to come up with new ways to use them as I rotate them throughout the season. Today’s Christmas plaid tablescape has some elements that I’ve shared before, but with some new twists!
I’ve found the key to interesting tablescapes is layering. Whenever I design a table, I never know what I’m going to use. I just start pulling things out of my hutch and grouping items together that look good. I start with the table linen first and go from there. Plaid is really fun and festive this time of year, so I wanted to use it. After I decide on the linens, I work on a centerpiece. I got this brass container from England, but you can use any kind of tray, bowl, or platter to create a focal point. Decide what you want to use in your container so you know what size you need. I got the cuttings from a pine tree in our back yard, and the preserved boxwood and berries I’ve had. Chargers and multiple sized plates also look good. The Twelve Days of Christmas plates work well with the plaid. Just play around with what you have…I’m sure you’ll create something amazing!
Finally, don’t forget to stop by the Creating Home Gift Shop. There’s a beautiful antique brass candelabra that would make a great holiday centerpiece. I have one in stock, but you can also special order them.
Thanks for stopping by!
