“There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humor.” A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens
I got a recipe from a good friend for the most delicious refreshing drink. I made it last year for our work holiday party, and everyone loved it (thanks, Kate, for the recipe)! If you’re looking for something light and festive, this Christmas punch is perfect! It can be used for entertaining or at your own holiday table. What makes this drink especially popular is the pretty cranberries that float in the punch as well as the pellet ice (I bought a ten pound bag from a place called Fiiz Drinks in Salt Lake).
I’ve had my punch bowl and cups for a long time. I used some fresh boxwood to wrap around the punch bowl to make it more festive and displayed it on a red Christmas tablecloth with cream embroidery. I also had an old metal tray that I used to hold the punch cups. If you missed my earlier blog post on other ways I use boxwood during the holidays, you can find it here.
Recipe For Christmas Punch
Depending on the size of your punch bowl, the recipe can be doubled, but the proportions are 1:1:1. If you’re calorie-conscious, you can also use diet drinks in this recipe. Hold off adding the ice until right before you’re ready to serve the drink so it won’t melt. The cranberries will also remain fresh if you add them at the last minute. Below is the recipe. If you drink alcohol, you can also add vodka or gin to it as well.
1 liter tonic
1 liter ginger ale
1 liter white grape juice
5 pounds pellet ice
