I consider myself a relatively private person, so sometimes it’s a challenge putting myself out there for the world to judge. Because I only share a part of my life in this blog and on social media, I realize that people might not get a full understanding of my life, and that’s OK. I love to share parts of my life with you, but some parts I want to keep private for my family. A reader once described me and my way of life as wholesome innocence, and I love that description. I assume it’s because of my passion for homemaking and family.
Having It All
Another friend recently told me that I have it all, and I admit I was surprised by that. 2017 was one of the hardest years of my life for various reasons, but that comment reminded me that I do have it all. I have a loving supportive husband who would do anything for me. I’ve been blessed with three kids, two step kids, and a dog who complete our family. I have a beautiful home where I love to spend all my time making it beautiful and welcoming for our family. And I also have a passion for design and homemaking. What else in life is there?
Creating The Life You Want
It’s these things that make me happy and have it all–not a glamorous or materialistic life. I love my small simple life because it’s mine and it’s what I created. One of my favorite role models is the artist and author, Tasha Tudor. What I admire so much about her is her desire and success in creating the life she wanted. Tasha always considered herself to be born in the wrong generation–she identified most with the humble farm life of the 1800s, so she created that way of life for herself.
I’ve been told many times that I was born in the wrong generation. I’ve created a business about an art and a passion of mine that was popular more than 80 years ago. The more the world evolves and moves forward, the more I want to go in the opposite direction. I’ll take my wholesome innocent life any day!
