Living Room Refresh
I recently had the opportunity to do a Living Room Refresh for a client who wanted an updated look with new furniture, furnishings, and decor. I did a rendering for her so she could visualize the space with all the changes. I think one of the hardest parts of the design process for clients is visualizing how a room’s going to look, so renderings are a really helpful tool for interior designers.
Renderings like this one are called photorealistic renderings. That just means it’s a design that makes it look like a photograph. I did a lot of these types of renderings in school but haven’t done one in about three years, so it was a fun challenge. In school we were taught to design a room and build it using CAD or Revit. With this particular project, however, I did the whole thing in Photoshop. The biggest challenge was keeping everything in perspective and to scale so everything looks like it’s the correct size. I’d love to know what you think!
Interior Design Information
If you want to learn more about photorealistic renderings, you can check out my book, So You Want To Be An Interior Designer. I wrote it as a guide for anyone interested in becoming a designer. In the book, I talk about scale and perspective, which were used to create the space. The helpful book also has information about school, internships, jobs, supplies, skills, and more. If you’re interested, you can buy a print copy from Amazon or an electronic copy here.
