My Winter Project
Last fall, I posted about a Winter project that I wanted to start. Now that it’s March, I wanted to give you an update on what I’ve been working on these past few months. I love working on large cross-stitch projects, so I decided to start a new one. You may remember the Renoir cross-stitch project that took me four years to complete (it’s shown below). Since it’s the favorite decoration in my house, I decided to start a new one. My Winter Project is a cross-stitch pattern based on Renoir’s Young Lady Sewing.
Impressionism and Pointillism
I’ve learned over the years that not everything translates into a cross-stitch pattern very easily. Some things work better than others, but impressionism and pointillism paintings work well. Impressionism has always been my favorite movement in Art history because I love the effect of light and color captured in particular moments. Pointillism developed from Impressionism and creates images with dots of color. Since both techniques are very similar, they work well as cross-stitch patterns.
Start Your Own Project
It’s been so enjoyable to have something to work on when my family and I are just hanging out or watching TV. If you’re looking for some easier cross-stitch patterns to do for yourself, I designed a couple for the Creating Home shop that you can find here. I’d love to hear about what projects you’re working on!
Have a great day!
