I’ve been spending a lot of time designing interiors again. After a 9 month hiatus, it feels good to be back doing what I love again. The room you see above is a classic design of a living room. What makes it classic is its timelessness. Because it’s not designed using trends, it always looks up to date. Neutral and classic colors such as white and blue are used. There’s also a mixture of finishes and textures to give the room a layered lived-in look.
What I love most about interior design is the unique challenge it presents. There’s a particular client with a budget and a style preference, and it’s my job to create their dream design within those parameters. If it’s a successful design, it meets those requirements, but it also has to be aesthetically pleasing and functional. There’s a technical aspect to design as well as a creative one that people don’t realize, and there’s lots and lots of details to keep track of. If you’d like to learn more about interior design, I wrote a helpful book that you can find here.

In the meantime, I’ve been sharing some of my client designs on the blog if you’re interested. You can find a Scandinavian bedroom here; a Moroccan Scandinavian living room here; and a transitional living room here.
As always, thanks for stopping by!
Have a great day!
