I hope you had a great Fourth of July holiday! It feels like this whole week has been an extended holiday (even though I’m working) because my family’s in town for a mini-reunion. It’s been fun seeing them and doing different things! Over the weekend, Andy and I went camping (which is turning into our weekend Summer ritual), and I had an epiphany. I decided to design our future mountain cabin. I know I keep blogging about it, but I’m just really excited about it! Forgive me if I sound like a broken record. I have no idea why I didn’t think about designing it before, but now it makes perfect sense. If this is going to be our forever home, then it only makes sense that we should spend as much time as possible making sure it’s everything we want. Why not?
When I was in interior design school, our program at Utah State was very architecture-heavy, so I got some experience designing houses and doing construction documents. I’m very excited for the challenge and just wish I had more time to spend on it. I remember years and years ago, I really got interested in house plans and sent away for a collection of cottage designs through a magazine. I have no idea where those plans are now, but I loved studying them and was fascinated by them.
Now I’ve got two big projects that I’m working on for the near future: design a cabin and make a quilt. I’ll share progress on both as I work on them.
Enjoy the rest of your week!
As always, thanks for stopping by!
