I subscribe to a lot of interior design magazines for my career, and my favorite articles are the ones that showcase multi-generational homes. It’s so interesting to read about homes that have been in families for generations. Because I’ve never lived in a home longer than a few years, the concept is completely foreign to me, but one that I’m fascinated by. I know it’s not as common in America as it is in other countries, but the idea of passing on homes to children and grandchildren creates a bond and a connection in families that seems to be missing in today’s society.
Maybe one day our mountain home will be passed along to our children, but until that time, I’m trying to do what my mother does and make hand-crafted items. My mother and I both like to do needlework, and she makes holiday presents of all her creations for her children and grandchildren. It’s so nice to have hand-made items made by her because it’s becoming a lost art. I’m not as selfless as she is because I only make them to hang in our house, but one day they’ll belong to my children.
Do you or somebody you know have a family home that’s been passed on? If so, I’d love to hear about it. Just comment in the post below.
As always, thanks for stopping by!
Have a great day!
