Hearts On A String

There’s nothing quite like homemade. In fact, one of my goals for this year is to try and make more hand-made items instead of just buying them. It really cuts down on the temptation to buy something because if I want it badly enough, I’m going to try and make it. These hearts on a string are a perfect example. My Mom is my biggest inspiration for ideas like this. Every year for a lot of the holidays, she makes little stitcheries for her kids, grand kids, and friends. Even…

Embroidered Pillowcases

Now that it’s Valentine season, it’s fun to come up with little ways of introducing the holiday into home decor. I switched the pillowcases on my bed to some pink embroidered pillowcases. Living Room Picnics

Picnics have a special meaning for Andy and me because they’re one of our first memories together as a couple. Since that first time, we’ve had all kinds of picnics including outdoor picnics, bed picnics, carpet picnics, and even living room picnics. One of the days of our trip, we decided to see the entire Park in one day. We…

Vintage Valentine

A few years ago, our house flooded, and I lost a lot of my family history that I had stored in the basement. There were five binders of photographs, cards, letters, emails, and genealogy charts that I spent a lot of time organizing. Naturally I was heartbroken when a lot of it got ruined with water damage. One of my prized possessions was a vintage Valentine that my grandfather gave to my grandmother, Wilma. There wasn’t a date on the Valentine, but judging by the style of it, I would…
