Skirted Cabinet At My Farmhouse
I don’t know if you’ve ever seen the movie, Allied, starring Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard, but it’s so visually appealing! I’m such a design nerd that I’ve watched parts of it over and over again just to study the interiors. The movie takes place in French Morocco and London during the end of World War II, and my favorite scene is in the Parisian-inspired apartment in Casablanca. I’ve always been a fan of skirted cabinets and have wanted to do one for a long time. Watching this movie has reignited my desire, and I’m now in the process of making a skirted cabinet at my farmhouse.
I’ve been gathering images I like for a long time and put some of my favorite ones on the moodboard above. One day I really want to get a farmhouse sink, but until that time comes, I’m just improvising with what I have. I decided to take off the two cabinet doors underneath my kitchen sink and mount a cafe curtain rod as close to the kitchen counter as possible, just under the two false drawer fronts. If you missed the blog post on my farmhouse kitchen, you can find it here. The fun part is picking out the fabric I want to hang. I’ll keep you updated and post some pictures as soon as I finish.
