Where Will You Go?
There’s a difference between traveling and taking a vacation. I recently read an article that described the difference between the two, and I couldn’t agree more. A vacation is anywhere you go that’s familiar – a place where you go to relax. Traveling is where you visit other cultures that you’re not used to, and it’s not necessarily relaxing. Depending on what stage you’re at in life, some people vacation and some people travel. Wilma Magazine’s August issue goes more into depth on the difference between the two and covers vacation and travel destinations in the mountains, on the sea, abroad, and even some exotic countries. Where will you go this year?
When my kids were younger, my family and I took vacations rather than traveled. I wish I would have been one of those families who traveled everywhere with their kids, but I didn’t. Our vacations were mostly trips to visit the grandparents with an occasional trip to Yellowstone or Disney World. Now that my kids are grown, however, I hope I’ll be able to do more traveling. I’m finding that the older the get, the more I appreciate this philosophy: “Fill your life with adventures, not things. Have stories to tell not stuff to show.” How about you? Do you prefer vacations or traveling?
