Old House With Lots of Charm and Character
I posted a couple days ago about how our Winter preparations have begun. Well, today we decided to have our fireplace professionally cleaned out because in the three years we’ve lived here, we haven’t done it yet, and we have a LOT of fires in the Fall and Winter. I know how bad that is. Because our house is almost 100 years old, there are lots of problems with it, and anytime we try to make improvements, it’s always more expensive and more work than we ever plan for. Two years ago, we redid the exterior of our home, and it turned into a disaster as well. The joys of living in a very old house with lots of charm and character go on and on….
I’m not very familiar with the whole fireplace sweeping process, but apparently our fireplace was the worst they’ve ever seen and it took them three times longer than it should have (even though we warned them about it ahead of time). In fact, the company owner was so upset about it that he told us he would never come to our house again and to never call him. He complained the whole time, tried blaming us, and spent over an hour arguing with us because he wanted more money (even though we paid him more than the agreed upon price). It really wasn’t very professional, and we were not impressed–especially since Andy spent the whole time helping them.
I guess all I can really say is that it’s as clean as it’s going to get, and some people really shouldn’t be in the service industry.
As always, thanks for stopping by!
Have a great day!
