It’s very rare for anyone to work for the same company for very long. My family considers Heinz the family business because my Dad worked there for almost 40 years, and my brother followed in his footsteps and worked there as well. Because of this, my family has all kinds of Heinz products around the house, including Heinz crockery.
I’ve got a dozen of these blue and white mugs that my Dad gave me, and I think they’ll be perfect for the mountain house. I love how provincial they look and how versatile they are. One day they’ll be hanging on hooks in the walk-in pantry and will be used for hot chocolate in front of the fire.
In the meantime, I’ve decided to use them for little planters in anticipation of Spring. Because of their wide opening, it’s easy to fill them with soil and plant a few flower buds. I can line them up in my windowsill and look at them while I work. When it’s cold and snowy outside, they provide a little bit of cheeriness. As Henry David Thoreau said, “One must maintain a little bit of Summer even in the middle of Winter.”
As always, thanks for stopping by!
Have a great day!
