Don’t you just get giddy when the warm weather finally arrives? Spring has been very slow to come to northern Utah, but it’s finally here! Last weekend we pulled our patio furniture out of Winter storage and have even been able to eat outside a time or two. It feels like Heaven after hibernating in the house for the past five months! One of my favorite activities to do when the weather is nice is to have an outdoor picnic.
I found this cute 1930s-style plaid fabric and made a lightweight blanket to sit on. The picnic basket we’ve had for several years and have gotten lots of use out of it. These types of picnic baskets are great because they hold all the dishes and cutlery you’ll need as well as food.
What’s especially nice about picnics is the long lingering meals without having to rush! Picnics can be enjoyed with others or by yourself reading a book or just daydreaming. I read something the other day about how we’re programming ourselves to be constantly entertained and stimulated with our phones. If there’s ever a slow moment, we immediately get on our phones (I’m guilty of this as well). The author recommended quiet time to just let our minds wander and think instead of subjecting it to more noise. I’m going to try doing that more!
I’m learning that it’s in the quiet moments that I have the most clarity and peace. It’s in the quiet moments when ideas and inspiration come. Have you found that that to be true as well? Here’s to warm sunny days full of reflection and quiet!
As always, thanks for stopping by!
Have a great day!
