Busy Season For Building

So we’ve had some good news regarding our property up in Tollgate Canyon! We discovered that a survey had been done on the property in the last few years. Andy was in the process of calling surveyors in Summit County when we found out. We’re still going to have High Mountain Surveying Company go up to the property to update it and add some of the major trees for reference point, though. That way Bryan can use the topo map to do our site plan when he’s orienting the house (so we won’t have to remove any large trees). It also makes it so we don’t have to start from scratch, and it will help the design process go faster. It’s the busy season for building up on the mountain!

When we got the CAD file, Andy and I both immediately noticed that we want to position our home in the same place and facing in the same direction as the previous owner was going to. For whatever reason they decided not to move forward with their dream, it makes it so we can have our dream! I sent our architect the floor plan that I designed, and he said he only had two minor changes to make on it to meet code. Considering my specialty is interior design and not architecture, I was quite pleased to hear that!

In completely unrelated news, these pictures are of our roses at The Turnaround House. In the four years we’ve been living here, we’ve never seen them bloom like this! There are so many more of them this year, and they’re blooming like crazy! I like to think they’re blooming like this for us as their way of saying goodbye….

Until next time, thanks for stopping by!

Have a great day!
