When my family was in town for a mini-reunion, my mom hosted a “Sisters Lunch” for us. Out of the five kids in my family, four of us are girls. She said the reason she wanted to do it is because she always does something for the grand kids, but not for us (which isn’t true, but was sweet nonetheless). It was really nice to celebrate each other as sisters, but it also reminded me of the importance of the bond between mothers and daughters as well.
My Mom used a pretty Battenburg lace tablecloth and some floral dishes for her table. At each place setting, she had a “sister” statue as well as a framed print about sisterhood. My Dad went and got us salads from Maddox for lunch (Maddox is where my parents met more than 50 years ago). While we were eating, we were supposed to write down memories of each other. It was fun trying to think of memories from the past, and it turned into hysterical laughter with tears. As you can see from the picture below, I look like I’ve been crying. I was, but it was out of laughter!
Because my family is so spread out over the country, it was fun to get together with each other and my mom. All of the grandkids were supposed to be in the basement watching a movie, but they kept sneaking up to see what we were doing. My mom is a saint, and it was really thoughtful of her to do this for us.
Until next time, thanks for stopping by!
Have a great day!
