Guess what? We sold our little farmhouse last week and are moving! Mountains, here we come! We don’t know much about the buyers, other than the fact that they like old houses as well. They looked at it for the first time on Friday night, and we agreed on the contract Tuesday night. Closing date is September 3.
Everything’s happening so fast, but we feel ready because we’ve been waiting so long! We found a cabin to rent in Tollgate Canyon (where we’ll be building our future home). The rent is very reasonable, so we decided it will work better for us than living in the 5th Wheel. The lease starts August 1st, so Andy and I decided to start moving this weekend. Rather than wait another month in limbo surrounded by boxes, we decided we’d just move up there right away and get settled. Luckily the new owners buying our house want all our furniture (except the couch, bed, coffee table, and TV–which we said we needed), so moving should be relatively easy.
The cabin we’re renting is small and split-level (only 1152 square feet) with 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, living/kitchen and a loft. We’re not going to rent a storage unit, so if our stuff doesn’t fit in the rental cabin, we’ll get rid of it. Right now there are piles everywhere–one pile to pack; one pile to sell; and one pile to get rid of.
Last Wednesday night as we were waiting for the new owners to do one more walk-through before closing, Andy and I were sitting on the couch looking around. It was the last time our house would look that way before everything was packed up and ready to move on. It was the last time it was “our” house. Definitely a bittersweet moment!
As always, thanks for stopping by!
Have a great day!
