Old-Fashioned Summer Entertainment

Old-Fashioned Summer Entertainment

When I was in Elementary School and before Summer arrived, teachers would pass out book order forms to purchase books for Summer reading. I remember being so excited to get the catalog and and circling all books I wanted to get. This was before the days of electronics when “TV Turn Off Week” was a big deal and everyone seemed to read more. As I’ve been taking steps to simplify my life, lately I’ve been inspired to read more. I made an old-fashioned Summer entertainment list that has some favorites that I’d like to revisit.

I know everyone has different tastes, but maybe you’ll find something that interests you. There’s both reading and watching lists (depending on your desire and time). I know most of these recommendations are older. I do like modern things as well, but whenever I have a choice, I usually go to the old classics first. I’d love to know what you’re reading and watching this Summer as well. Maybe you can return the favor and make some suggestions to me as well. Thank you!

To Read:

And Then There Were None
Rebecca
Tasha Tudor’s Garden
Little House on the Prairie (Little House, No 3)
The Moonlit Way by Alice Dwyer-Joyce (1974-12-03)
Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice: A Book-to-Table Classic (Puffin Plated)

To Watch:

Swiss Family Robinson
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
North and South (BBC)
Anne of Green Gables [Blu-ray]
Little Women
Gone with the Wind (1939)

There’s one movie from my childhood that I’ve never been able to find. It was on The Wonderful World of Disney and is called For The Love of Willadean. If anyone’s seen it or has a copy, I’d love to know where you got it!

As always, thanks for stopping by!

Have a great day!
