I’m happy to say that we are completely moved out of our farmhouse and up to the mountain! On Saturday, Andy and I packed up the last of the boxes and brought them up here to the rental cabin. Now all we have left is the stuff for the moving sale, which we’re going to have on Saturday. Once that’s done, we just have the closing left the first week of September. We’re still getting settled and trying to adjust to our new home, but we love living up here! I thought I would do a periodic mountain diaries post to give an update.
The rental cabin we’re staying in was built in 1978 and has one small bedroom (our storage room) and one bathroom. The rest of it is open space with a loft above. The bathroom was recently remodeled and now has a full-size washer and drier. The owner would like to remodel the kitchen at some point over the next year when she’s ready to put it on the market (the kitchen is original from when the cabin was built). Right now it doesn’t have a dishwasher, but Andy and I are going to buy a portable one to use for the time we’re here.
Up until this point, the cabin has only been heated by a wood burning stove (hence the open floor plan). Since the owner has realized how handy Andy is, she’s asked him to be help manage and coordinate the installation of a furnace/propane tank before the weather gets cold. The cabin is perfect for our temporary residence, and we love the fact that it’s only five minutes from our land! We’ll get to experience life living on the mountain while we wait for our own mountain house to be built.
Our favorite part is being surrounded by nature. There’s so much activity going on up here with ground squirrels, birds, and wildlife. We still feel like we’re camping in a place like Yellowstone, but we’re not. It’s our home now, and we feel very lucky!
Until next time, thanks for stopping by!
Have a great day!
