A few years ago, I started having an annual planning week for myself in November to get ready for the upcoming year. Juggling multiple businesses as well as my personal life can be very complicated and overwhelming, so it helps to get organized. This great little planner that I use has sections for personal, professional, and financial goals. Even though it’s no longer available, I’m sure you can find something similar if you’d like to do the same.
I like to make a list of all the projects I want to do in the upcoming year and map them out. Sometimes I have too many projects to get done, so I have to decide which ones are the most important to me. It helps to have everything written down where I can see it visually. If I feel good about everything I’ve planned and mapped out, I look forward more to the new year. When things don’t feel right or I’m trying to cram too much in, that’s when I know I need to eliminate some of my projects.
An annual planning week sounds like a lot, but I’ve found that if I take some time now to really get organized and detailed with my goals for the new year, it helps me to accomplish those goals. With my personality, I generally just jump right into things without thinking through them like I should. This system forces me to be less impulsive, which is probably good for me!
How about you? How do you get organized for the new year? Are you a last minute planner or do you like to get organized early on? I’d love to hear about your process.
As always, thanks for stopping by!
Have a great day!
