Over the holiday break, I spent some time really digging into 2020 and planning every single day. I know that sounds completely overwhelming, and it was. I’m hoping it will be worth it, though! I started this process back in November when I decided which projects I wanted to pursue in 2020. I then started making a list of every single thing I needed to do for each project and mapped them out on the calendar for the next 12 months. I’m not going to lie–it was a ton of work, and I’m going to be very busy this year.
I decided to try it for the first time because I have so many things I want to accomplish, but my estimation of time is not very realistic. I’m a disciple of Shanna Skidmore, my favorite business mentor. She closed her doors at the beginning of last year, but I’m still trying to implement her teachings in my business. I’ve been her student for over three years, and visioning/mapping is one of her teachings.
Let’s hope this activity will help me be better at deciding which creative ideas I should pursue, and which ones should just stay ideas. I have a personal goal for myself this year–no new projects for 2020 (other than the ones that are already planned). If I get a flash of inspiration (which happens frequently), I’m going to write the idea down and let it sit. If I’m still excited about it at the end of the year, I’ll add it to my list of projects for 2021!
I recently read a quote by Bill Gates where he says, “We tend to overestimate what we can do in a day, and underestimate what we can do in a year.” I’m going to be testing this theory this year! How are your plans for 2020? Do you have any goals or things you’d like to accomplish?
As always, have a great day!
Thank you for stopping by!
