Have you ever had one of those weeks where you’re ready to yell, “Enough” to the world? That’s how this week has been for me. As soon as Andy left on Monday, Aries (our Siberian Husky) got sick. He was literally up all night long Monday coughing, gagging, vomiting, and having trouble breathing because he was coughing so much. I actually found blood in the snow the next morning that he had vomited.
I haven’t been around animals like Andy has, so I didn’t know what was going on. In the middle of the night your thoughts always assume the worst-case scenario. All I could think was that Aries was dying and Andy wouldn’t be here. I called the vet the next morning, and they didn’t have any openings until Wednesday. The vet actually examined Aries in the parking lot because they were worried he would be contagious and infect other animals. Apparently he has something called “kennel cough” which is a respiratory infection that’s very contagious. He must have gotten it from one of the other dogs up here on the mountain. Aries is now on three sets of drugs. One is an antibiotic; one is to help him stop throwing up; and one for his cough.
In other news, we’ve been without WiFi for several weeks. After Andy called every internet provider in the Salt Lake valley, we learned we can’t get WiFi because of the denseness of the trees surrounding the cabin. A signal just can’t get through. We’ve been bouncing off a cabin near us who has a better signal, but they decided to turn their service off because they weren’t using it enough. Andy messaged the owners and asked them if they could turn it back on so we could get service. We’re still trying to figure it out.
Lastly, our builder backed out of our project. He’s going through some personal issues and is moving from the mountain so he said he couldn’t build our home. Now we’re scrambling to find someone else who can start building in a few short months. The only builders I know are in the valley, so we’re trying to get recommendations from people up here.
I’m ready for a new week. How about you?
As always, thanks for stopping by!
Have a great day!
