Drive Through The Mountains

On Saturday, we took the Polaris Ranger out for a drive through the mountains.  We like to drive over to our property, and the Ranger makes it so much easier because we take some roads that aren’t plowed.  Since the last time we went there, we’ve gotten two more feet of snow.  There were several roads that didn’t have any tracks yet, and we were the first to drive on them. Our property is at the bottom of a loop, and there’s a really pretty drive up to the top…

When Tragedy Strikes

It’s always so difficult when tragedy strikes your family personally.  Over the weekend, we learned that my sister-in-law’s sister was involved in a horrible car crash with her fiancé and is in critical condition.  My sister-in-law is English, and all of her family lives in England.  It’s been so hard for her to be here knowing what’s happening over there.  A Go Fund Me page was started to raise money for Sølviej (my sister-in-law) to travel to England to be with her sister and family. Birdie’s Apothecary Pop-Up Shoppe

The first Birdie’s Apothecary Pop-Up Shoppe will be on March 1 this year!  On the first day of every month, the Apothecary Shoppe will be open for just 24 hours (or until the products are sold out).  Each month will have different products with different themes.  The theme for March is Woodland Wanderer. Five Month Anniversary

Saturday marked the five month anniversary since we moved to the mountains!  You might not think that’s a very big deal, but to me it is.  Winter was my biggest worry up here, and since we’re already halfway through the season, I know I can make it the rest of the way. We took the Polaris Ranger over to our property to go exploring.  It’s great to know that we still love our property and can’t wait to start building our house (or at least the garage and apartment in…

Mornings At The Cabin

Mornings at the cabin in the mountains are pretty routine.  The first thing to do is always light a fire in the wood burning stove because it’s our main source of heat.  The cabin we’re renting was built in the 70s, but there was never a propane furnace installed until last year.  We’ve heard horror stories of how cold it used to get in the middle of the night in this cabin.  We’re using the furnace as a secondary heat source for the night.  Because it’s only a 500 gallon tank,…
