A Cat And A Dog

Since we no longer have kids in the house, our attention mostly centers on our two pets, Sochi and Aries.  You might wonder at a cat and a dog having a difficult time living together, and you’d be correct!  They don’t get along at all, and our family time consists of each of them taking turns spending time with us. Because Sochi (our Russian blue cat) was rescued from living on the streets of Brigham City, she has quite a bit of PTSD.  She spends most of her time in…

Mini Family Reunion

My three sisters came into town over the weekend for a mini family reunion.  We’re all spread out in the U.S. with one sister living in North Carolina; another sister living in Indiana; and another sister living in Oregon.  Only my brother and I live here in Utah along with my parents.  Since my parents are in the process of selling their home and moving, my sisters flew in to help them pack.  My dad’s been having some health problems, so he reluctantly agreed to some help. Cold Arctic Front From Canada

How was your Hallowe’en?  Ours turned out better than I hoped.  With the cold Arctic front from Canada that we’ve been experiencing, it completely froze our pumpkins.  Apparently this weather has broken all kinds of records in Utah for low temperatures for October.  We tried defrosting the pumpkins, but that just left them mushy and unable to be carved. Apparently there’s been a shortage of pumpkins all over northern Utah because of the cold freeze.  I tried calling Smith’s and Walmart in Park City asking about pumpkins, and they just…

Hallowe'en

Halloween Greetings

HALLOWE’EN The ghosts of all things past parade, Emerging from the mist and shade That hid them from our gaze, And, full of song and ringing mirth, In one glad moment of rebirth, And again they walk the ways of earth As in the ancient days. The beacon light shines on the hill, The will-o’-wisps the forests fill With flashes filched from noon; And witches on their broomsticks spry Speed here and yonder in the sky, And lift their strident voices high Unto the Hunter’s Moon. The air resounds…
